Cambridge Young Learners Certificates - Starters, Movers, Flyers
Cambridge Young Learners is a series of fun English tests for primary school children. The series consists of three tests: Pre A1 Starters, A1 Movers and A2 Flyers.
The tests are particularly suitable for children at bilingual primary schools and for children who are growing up with English as a second language.
Details
Group registrations: If you are a teacher and would like to register a group of students for Young Learners exams, please let us know! If you have 10 or more registrations, we will be happy to arrange a separate exam date for you! The exam is paper-based and can take place either at your school or at our premises in 1060 Vienna, depending on the distance. We are happy to test Starters, Movers and Flyers in one session, so your pupils do not all have to be at the same language level.
Individual registrations: Are you a parent who would like to register your child for one of the three Young Learners exams? We currently offer one date per year for individuals, always in mid-June. Please contact us for detailed information!
To register a group of students or individual candidates for a Young Learners exam, please contact Ms Ines Hawkins-Healey at ines.hawkins@cambridge.at or 01/59 56 111.
The exam fees for Pre A1 Starters, A1 Movers and A2 Flyers are currently EUR 103,- per exam and candidate. The fee is due within three days of registration.
It is very important to us to make the exam day as pleasant as possible for our youngest candidates. The individual parts of the exam are kept short and appropriate breaks are scheduled.
Of course, all our employees undergo regular child protection training.
There is no pass or fail in the Young Learners exams; all participating children receive a certificate showing how many “shields” (out of a maximum of five) they have achieved for each part of the test.
Young Learners certificates are a great way to celebrate children's progress and achievements without the pressure and stress of exams, boosting their confidence and highlighting and rewarding their own individual abilities.
The results show children and their teachers or parents where they can still improve and where their strengths lie.
The back of the certificate shows how the results correspond to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Once a child has achieved four or five shields in each language skill, they are ready to start preparing for the next level!
As soon as we receive the certificates from England, we will inform you directly by email. You can then collect your child's certificate or your students' certificates directly from us.
Alternatively, we will be happy to send the certificates collectively by post to your school/organisation (registered).
